All Asia Hears the Word
July 24, 2022 Speaker: Pastor James Wychers Series: The Rise and Witness of the Church
Topic: The Gospel Passage: Acts 19:1–10
What is the teaching of the Christian church? What is the main message that the Christian church is all about? How would your friends or neighbors answer that question?
I am guessing that many people would say:
- be a good person
- do what the church teaches you to do
- give a lot of money
- no idea what the church teaches.
The fact is there’s a lot of confusion out there.
Paul goes on his third missionary journey. He settles in Ephesus. He was preaching and teaching and sending out missionaries. They were working together on the mission of Jesus.
What we’ll see today is that the gospel confronts confusion and unbelief as it’s carried forth by the people of God. Paul had great success in his ministry. He journeyed through the ancient world proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.
But the extent of the dissemination of this message and the planting of churches increased remarkable when he trained others and sent them forth.
In this way, the gospel truly went to the end of the earth.
Acts 1:8 You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and Judea and all Samaria and to the end of the earth.
And the gospel is going to the end of the earth.
We’ll learn from this and be challenged by this concept again as we were last week.
