Ministries that Serve the Congregation and the Greater Community
ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
This class meets on Sunday mornings before service from 9:00-9:45 in Meeting Room 1. Various Bible studies are covered; watch the bulletin for current topics.
BEREAVEMENT
The Bereavement ministry serves those who have lost loved ones. In conjunction with the Pastoral staff, funeral, and/or memorial service plans are held either at CrossView Church or a nearby funeral home. At the family’s request, CrossView will also host an after-service meal. The ministry team works alongside the family to plan, serve, and clean up.
BREAD OF LIFE SHARE CENTER
CVC’s Bread of Life Share Center provides nutritious food to people in need of assistance on the 1st Saturday of each month (by appointment only). We gather food from our partners, Faith Acres and the Northern Illinois Food Bank for distribution at CrossView Church. Contact CVC to set up an appointment time.
Also, the Bread of Life Share Center Groceries Giveaway is available on the 3rd Fridays of each month from 5-6:30pm on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please bring ID. One registrant per address/household.
BROWN BAG BOOK CLUB
BBBC meets year-round on Tuesdays from 11:15am-1:00pm. Group members read educational and edifying books related to Christianity, church history, heroes of the faith, and doctrine. Book Club members then discuss thought-provoking questions. Led by Pastor David Lovi. See CVC website for current book and questions from past book discussions. For more information, contact the church office.
FAMILY AND CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
Led by James and Cozette Wychers. "It is our desire to partner with and equip parents in their God-given role to raise a generation of children who grow in Christ and pursue a God-centered vision of life. As a church, we will celebrate together with parents in the spiritual milestones in the life of each child as we help parents and children to develop kingdom-minded relationships and authentic community centered on the gospel of Jesus."
MISSIONS
The Missions Ministry partners with our current missionaries in prayer and financial support, assists missionary candidates in their efforts to get to their field of service, and mobilizes our congregation towards greater awareness of and involvement in global mission work and missions trends.
The Missions Ministry also sponsors short-term mission trips to provide support to individuals and small groups pursuing specific short-term opportunities. For more information contact the church office.
MEALS MINISTRY
The Meals Ministry serves families and individuals who attend CVC and are in need of a meal due to an illness, the birth of a child, a death in the family, a hospitalization, etc. The meals are provided and prepared by volunteers of CVC.
MUSIC AND TECHNICAL MINISTRIES
The CVC Music and Tech Ministries serve the congregation by seeking to provide excellent, relevant music for the Sunday morning service. Both contemporary worship songs and traditional hymns are used.
PRAYER MINISTRIES
Sunday Corporate Prayer meets in Meeting Room 2 every Sunday morning fifteen minutes before each service (9:45am) for a time of corporate prayer.
E-Prayer Chain prayer requests are generally phoned or emailed to the Church Office. Upon approval, they are emailed to a group of faithful servants. This group of individuals is committed to praying for the requests on a daily basis. These requests range from health concerns, relationships, spiritual issues, financial concerns, etc. for attendees and families, and their broader network (neighbors, co-workers, relatives, etc.) For more information, contact the church office.
