What does the resurrection of Jesus mean?
As Christians, we are very good at explaining what the death of Jesus means.
• He died for our sins.
• Through his death, we are justified.
• Through his death, we are redeemed.
• He paid the penalty for us.
We’re good at articulating what the cross is about but we’re not always as good at articulating what the resurrection of Jesus is about.
The New Testament authors think the resurrection of Jesus is extremely important.
Not just because it’s an historical fact. Not just because it is the evidence that validates the entire Christian faith according to the apostle Paul (I Corinthians 15).
Not only because it confirms the things about himself, including that he would suffer and die and rise again on the third day
But the resurrection of Jesus does something. It achieves something. It accomplishes something.
This morning we’re going to look at a few things it accomplishes.
Look at I Peter 1: 3-5.
