To Him Who is Able

Speaker: Pastor James Wychers Series: Contending for the Faith Topic: Faith Scripture: Jude 1:24–25

As we finish our journey through the book of Jude with these final two verses, we see a beautiful doxology that shows us how those who contend for the faith are joyfully saved by our Glorious Eternal King. The ultimate remedy to false teachers and the ultimate point of life is worship of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We're examining what Jesus does and who Jesus is. He is able to keep us from stumbling and present us blameless before His glory. This connects to the Old Testament sacrificial system, where unblemished animals were brought for sacrifice. But Jesus is the perfect, unblemished sacrifice who makes us clean permanently. Through His sacrifice, we can stand in God's glory – the same divine presence that would have destroyed Moses on Mount Sinai had God not protected him.

We need to understand that we are not able, but Jesus is able. We can't protect ourselves or others absolutely. But Jesus can and will complete the work He begins in us.

Who Jesus is matters as much as what He does. He is the only God, our Savior, with all glory, majesty, dominion and authority before all time, now, and forever. Our salvation isn't just about what we receive – it's about who we receive. Our relationship is with Jesus Christ himself.

Many of us struggle with identity problems, feeling inadequate and trying to make ourselves acceptable to others and to God. We chase worldly solutions through addictions, materialism, workaholism, or other escapes. But what if we truly believed that in Christ, we are already presented blameless before God? We don't need to earn acceptance – we already have it through Jesus.

Our only true comfort in life and death is that we belong to Jesus Christ. When we grasp this reality, we can stop exhausting ourselves trying to please others or escape our feelings of inadequacy. We can find the nourishment and satisfaction our souls seek in relationship with Jesus Christ, worshiping Him not just in church but with our whole lives.
