SERMON INTRODUCTION:

We've been looking at how the gospel's transforming power changes how we live. Remember Ephesians 4:1. Paul says, “I urge you as a prisoner of the Lord to walk in a manner worthy of the gospel to which you've been called.”

There's a certain way to walk. Every command that we have, every command to do something is based on the power of the gospel, the power of the grace of Jesus Christ, Christ that has transformed us. See, as a true Christian you have been inwardly transformed, inwardly changed, and therefore the outward changes as well.

So, we were called a few weeks ago to walk in love as imitators of God to give ourselves for the good of others. That was chapter five, verses one through seven. We were also called to walk in light, and not in darkness. To do all that is good and right and true. And that was chapter five, verses eight through 14. And today we'll see the third call to walk, which means to live in a certain way, to walk in the world. And the call today is to walk in wisdom.

The message is this, followers of Christ who are filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit are to apply themselves to living in God's wisdom. The Word of God has relevant and massive implications for how we live every day. That's why we open it up. It's not just a theoretical thing. It is a very practical thing for our lives every day.

How we walk through this life says much about who we are, says much about our essential nature, and what's really on the inside. So, we'll look at the exhortation to live carefully or walk carefully then and work out the implications.

We'll look at what flows from our essential nature, what actually flows from within, and what flows from the heart. And if we listen, there will be conviction. There will be the experience of the goodness of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit.
