We’re starting something new. A series called: Witnesses to the Good News.

One of our stated values of our church is that we reach out with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We go out and impact others with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We want to spend a few weeks talking about that value.

We are a church that is centered on the gospel. We center our services, our ministry, our mission, our lives on the gospel.

The next six weeks we will focus squarely on this gospel message—this message of Good News in Christ. Without it, Christianity ceases to exist.

The importance of the gospel cannot be overstated. This is why we center ourselves on this message: the gospel.

What is the gospel? How do we define it? What is it all about?

“The gospel is the joyous proclamation of God’s redemptive activity in Christ Jesus on behalf of man enslaved by sin.” (Evangelical Dictionary of Theology)

The gospel is the Good News of Jesus. In this series, we want to focus on this gospel message. We will learn how we can take a step in the direction of being more intentional, to being more faithful witnesses to Jesus Christ wherever God puts us.

How can we as a people collectively and individually be more intentional about the value we have of reaching out with the gospel?

We will celebrate the Good News and understand it more. We will set forth some practical evangelical principles. We will seek to develop the heart of Jesus for lost people.

We will start this morning by going back to the beginning--to the work of God in creation. The Good News starts back in the garden of Eden.

We need to know the purpose for which we were created. The good news is that every person has a purpose—that purpose is the glory of God.

Do you know why you exist? Do you know why God has given you breath? God gave you the life, strength, and energy to be here. You are here for a purpose. Do you know why? Do your neighbors know why they exist? Your coworkers, your fellow students?

My desire this morning is to build a foundation under gospel point one. We want to know and understand the importance and purpose for which God created us.

This is a powerful message. It’s for every person alive.
