What do promises have to do with hope? Promises and hope are interconnected. You don’t have one without the other.

Definitions—

Hope: a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. To expect with confidence a positive outcome.

Christian Hope: trustful anticipation; particularly with reference to the fulfillment of the promises of God. You see here the connection between hope and promises.

The real heart of hope is in the believability of the things that are promised. Whether these things will actually come to fruition—if they’re really going to happen— that’s really the heart and core and concept of hope.

Where is hope found? Can we find hope in this world? Should we be able to be find hope in this world?

We’re going to see that Christmas reminds us that genuine hope is only found in the reality of the promises of God.

The world desperately seeks hope—something positive to look forward to. Most worldly hope is vain hope because it’s based on faulty promises. Vain hopes lead to hopelessness and hopelessness leads to despair.

We, at this point in our history, have an epidemic of despair around us. Thankfully. God offers us something better—genuine hope based on sure promises and this brings life both in the present and in the future.
