The Many Tribulations of God’s Kingdom
May 1, 2022 Speaker: Pastor James Wychers Series: The Rise and Witness of the Church
Topic: Tribulations Passage: Acts 14:19–28
It’s not surprising that we have seen that opposition to the gospel is always there. Just like your living room furniture. Every time you go into the living room, the furniture will be there. Wherever the gospel goes forth there is opposition. We’ve seen that. They expected this. We need to expect this, as well.
We’ll see this morning that in the midst of tribulation, God is at work building his church through the ministry of his people. In the midst of tribulation, he is doing this. The mission continued to go forth. The Word of God and the gospel message continued to go forth. It wasn’t stopped by anything. This is the message Luke is giving to us.
The door remained opened. The people kept becoming disciples of Jesus Christ in the midst of all this.
This passage will help us think better about our church and the kind of ministry we have and should have. We have the same kind of mission. And the same kind of calling that we see throughout the book of Acts.
