King of Righteousness, King of Peace

September 22, 2019 Speaker: Pastor David Lovi Series: Genesis 12-25: The Life of Abraham

Topic: Righteousness Passage: Genesis 14:17–14:20, Psalm 110, Hebrews 7

King of Righteousness, King of Peace2-min

The text that we that we come to today is full of intrigue, mystery, beauty, and wonder. It’s one that theologians have debated over and marveled at for centuries. And that is the account of the appearance of this figure called Melchizedek. This appearance of Melchizedek is referenced in two other places in the Bible which will help shed light on our text this morning. So, in addition to our main text: Genesis 14: 17-20, we will also take a look at Psalm 110 and Hebrews 7, as well. This is a mysterious and difficult text. Melchizedek plays a key role in the unifying of the scriptures—Old Testament and New Testament. If we can understand who he is and what he does in the Bible, we can better understand who Christ is.
