By Faith; Not by Sight
Topic: Abraham Passage: Genesis 13:1–13:18
Thus far in our study of the life of Abram, we have seen a man who loved God, had faith in God, and obeyed God, but who was also quite imperfect in his love, faith, and obedience - just like us. Abram has made some bad decisions that almost cost him everything, but God who is rich in mercy and faithful to keep His promises, rescued Abram and his family from the consequences of his sin, and God providentially directed Abram's steps from the land of Egypt back to the land of Canaan, his promised inheritance.
In this chapter we will see how Abram and Lot use very different methods to decide where they will live - one by faith and the other by sight - and the consequences, especially for Lot, are severe. May we see the world and our place in it not by our fleshly eyes and desires, but rather through the eyes of faith and through the lens of Scripture!
