The Worthless Religion That Cannot Save
Colossians 2:16-23
Adding rules to the gospel of grace robs Christians of their prize in Christ. The fact is the church has a long history (not a good history) of adding rules to the gospel. The gospel has been undermined and been rendered powerless because of it. Religion of the world--this human religion--teaches that God is appeased by rituals, works, and sacrifices. We think, "If I do certain things, then God will bless me in certain ways." This seems to be woven into our cultural DNA.
It’s what we think unless we are taught to think differently.
And it is dangerously false.
