The Treasure, the Pearl, and the Net

May 27, 2018 Speaker: Pastor David Lovi Series: The Gospel of Matthew 2018

Passage: Matthew 13:44–13:52

The Treasure, the Pearl, and the Net-min

The Treasure, the Pearl, and the Net
Matthew 13: 44-52

Everyone on earth is searching for something that is able to fulfill their deepest need. People try to fill that hole with all manner of things. Be it possessions, or experiences, or the love and respect of a spouse, or even mind altering substances - anything to quench the insatiable thirst of the human soul.

But in the end, all of those things fail in that regard. Possessions corrode, experiences end, spouses sin against each other and hurt each other, drugs, etc. do nothing but mask the pain for a little while and then add more pain.

There is only ONE THING which has the power to fulfill our deepest desires, and that is Jesus. Only He is able to give us living water, whereby we will never thirst again, and which wells up to eternal life!

In the final parables of Matthew 13, in verses 44-55, Jesus makes the point abundantly clear - that He is worth more than anything this world affords.
