12 Ordinary Men

November 5, 2017 Speaker: Pastor David Lovi Series: The Gospel of Matthew

Topic: Faithful Laborers Passage: Matthew 10:1–10:15

Twelve Ordinary Men(1)

When we left off a couple of weeks ago at the end of Matthew chapter 9, Jesus made a statement that the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. And therefore, we should pray earnestly to the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers into his harvest field.

This is an image of the world as a sort of farm and the people are like crops ready to be harvested and brought into the house. But laborers are needed to do the work and there aren’t that many of those. There are not many who labor in God’s harvest fields and thus we should pray that God would raise them up and send them out, if we indeed care about this lost world.

  • So what kind of people does God call?
  • How does He equip these people for gospel work?
  • What does he expect of his workers?

That’s what Matthew is going to address for us in our passage today from Matthew 10: 1-15.

The title of my message is “12 Ordinary Men.”

God only calls ordinary people into his work. I pray this church would find faithful laborers for Christ’s sake.

Ordinary people whom God can use for his glory.
