The Harvest is Plentiful but the Workers are Few

October 15, 2017 Speaker: Pastor David Lovi Series: The Gospel of Matthew

Passage: Matthew 9:35–9:38

The Harvest is Plentiful but the Workers are Few

Today we come to the end of Matthew chapter 9. What a blessed section of scripture this chapter has been. The Lord Jesus has proven not only His identity as the promised Messiah but also His amazing love for all who come to Him. And today we’re going to see that love displayed once again.

A huge mixed crowd had been following Jesus wherever He went. Some of the people in the crowd were simply curious about this man they had heard about who was able to do amazing things like heal the sick and raise the dead.

Others in the crowd were intrigued by his teaching for here was a man who taught with authority unlike the scribes and the Pharisees. They had never heard anyone teach like Jesus had taught.

Still others were offended and jealous of Jesus and they followed Him to see what they could find to use against Him.

Finally, some of the people there, a remnant, were believers who recognized that Jesus really is the promised Messiah whom all the prophets had foretold.

In our verses today, we’re going to see Christ’s heart towards all of them. What a wonderful thing it is to know that our God is a God who truly cares about his people.

May the Lord once again reveal that love and care that He has toward us as we come to His word today.
