Pastor David Lovi
1 John 5:13–5:21

Here we come to the end of 1 John today. This book has been such a profound blessing in my life in helping me come to a place of stronger assurance of my salvation in Jesus Christ. I really hope these words John has written to the church has done the same for each of you as well.

John’s purpose in writing his letter was to paint a picture of what true Christianity looks like and to give those who are true Christians assurance of their eternal life and salvation in Jesus Christ.

John is a pastor who cares for the flock. Thirteen times in this letter, he calls his readers "children" or "little children." And we’ve seen the love he has for God’s people.

It’s out of that love the apostle wants us to know with certainty whether or not we have eternal life.

In the epistles, just like in any letter, what he writes at the beginning and at the end are perhaps the most important parts that he desires to communicate to us.

Let us pray that the truth of this message of 1 John would live in our hearts now and always.
