What is meant by “the lost?

Charles Spurgeon said it is “descriptive of our condition—we are lost to God, who has lost our heart’s love, and lost our confidence, and lost our obedience, lost to the church, which we cannot serve; lost to truth, which we will not see; lost to right, whose cause we do not uphold; lost to heaven, into whose sacred precincts we can never come; lost—so lost that unless almighty mercy shall intervene, we shall be cast into the pit that is bottomless to sink forever

He further says, “Better a whole world on fire than a soul lost!”

The Good News is that Jesus came to seek and save the lost. This should lift a heavy weight from our shoulders. The weight of religions of the world imploring us to do something in order to save ourselves—recite prayers, repeat mantras, chant, do good deeds, be a good person, etc.

Our striving to save ourselves is futile. Jesus alone saves. He is merciful. Jesus is seeking you today!

“If you were sick, would you send for your physician tomorrow? If your house were on fire, would you call ‘Fire!’ tomorrow? If you were robbed in the street on your road home, would you cry ‘Stop! Thief!’ tomorrow? No.” (Spurgeon)

We welcome you to plan a visit to CrossView Church to learn more about this Good News!
