To give our faithful Children’s Ministry workers a much-deserved respite, there will not be Nursery or Children’s Church on Sundays December 28 and January 4. Busy bags will be available in the foyer for your children to use quietly in the sanctuary during the worship service. For parents with infants and younger toddlers, the Baby Care Room (across from the sanctuary) will be open with the worship service streaming on the monitor in that room. The Jesus-Centered Life

We all know the difference between genuine and fake—whether it's a knockoff product or a forced smile. But what about our own lives? Are we producing real fruit, or just putting on a good show?

Jesus taught that good trees bear good fruit, and that what's in our hearts will eventually reveal itself. So here's a question worth considering: What kind of fruit is your life producing? And more importantly, what's the condition of the roots?

Join us this Sunday as we explore these questions in our new sermon series, A Gospel Ministry Paradigm. Pastor James Wychers will be speaking on "The Jesus-Centered Life" from Luke 6:43-45.

This Sunday at CrossView Church

Every parent wonders about their child's future. Every friend ponders the path ahead for someone they love. But what happens when God breaks the silence to announce a child who will change everything?

When the angel appeared to Zechariah, he didn't just promise a son—he painted a picture of purpose, of calling, of a life that would prepare the way for the Savior. What does it mean when God's hand is clearly on a life from the very beginning? And how do we recognize and respond to the extraordinary purposes woven into ordinary lives?

Gather with us this Sunday as we reflect on these questions in our sermon, "What Then Will This Child Be?"

The Blessing and Wonder of the Baby

Mary's “yes” to God changed everything—not just for her, but for all of us. When the angel came with news that seemed impossible, she responded with trust, and then hurried to share her joy with Elizabeth. In that moment between two cousins, something beautiful happened: recognition, blessing, and a song that still echoes today.

What does it mean to recognize God's work in unexpected places? How do we respond when we see His promises unfolding in ways we didn't anticipate?

What does it mean that Jesus carries this title? And how does understanding His identity as the Son of the Most High shape the way we live today?

When Heaven Breaks the Silence

Have you ever experienced a season where God seemed quiet—where prayers felt like they were echoing into silence? Zechariah the priest understood that feeling all too well. For years, he and Elizabeth had hoped, prayed, and waited. But then, in an ordinary moment of temple service, heaven interrupted with extraordinary news.

What might God be doing in the seasons when He seems silent? How does waiting shape our faith in ways we might not expect?

We're beginning our sermon series Good News of Great Joy, walking through Luke 1:1-2:21 together. This week, Pastor Kyle Pratt will be opening Luke 1:5-25 with us.

FUEL THANKSGIVING POTLUCK DINNER

Thursday, November 20 ~ 6:00 p.m.

You are invited to join CVC’s Fuel youth group for a Thanksgiving Potluck dinner in the gym. We will eat together, play games, and worship. This is an opportunity for our congregation and Fuel students to come together as most of the students do not attend church and don’t come from homes that attend church.

This Sunday at CrossView Church

We all long for fresh starts—a chance to begin again with hope restored and purpose renewed. But what does it mean when God promises to write His law not on stone tablets, but on our hearts?

What would change in your life if you truly knew God in a personal, intimate way? How might a promise like this reshape the way you see yourself and your relationship with Him?

Connect with us this Sunday as we reflect on these questions in our sermon, "The Promise of a New Covenant."

We are focusing on memorizing key Bible verses corresponding to Pastor James’ sermon series “The Unfolding Gospel.” Memorizing Scripture is an excellent discipline for spiritual growth that allows us to focus our minds on God’s Word and so enrich our spiritual lives. This November we will be memorizing Ezekiel 36:26-27.

FUEL THANKSGIVING POTLUCK DINNER

Thursday, November 20 ~ 6:00 p.m.

You are invited to join CVC’s Fuel youth group for a Thanksgiving Potluck dinner in the gym. We will eat together, play games, and worship. This is an opportunity for our congregation and Fuel students to come together as most of the students do not attend church and don’t come from homes that attend church.

The average student attendance on Thursday night Fuel meetings is 36 and the families of the students will also be invited. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Turkey and drinks will be provided. Any questions, contact  Kyle Pratt at kylegarypratt@gmail.com or fuel@crossviewonline.org

The CVC Bread of Life Share Center Food Pantry is grateful to Faith Acres Foundation and Northern Illinois Food Bank for gathering and providing the food for us to share.

The Food Pantry is typically open on the 2nd Saturdays of the month (9:00-11:00 a.m.) and the  4th Fridays of the month (4:30-6:00 p.m.).  

Please note: because of the holidays in November and December, some dates have changed. Future dates for the Food Pantry are: Friday, November 21, Saturday, December 6, and Friday, December 19. Times remain the same.

ADVENT

ADVENT begins Sunday, November 30. As Christmas approaches, we will focus on Jesus’ birth story and the saving gospel during our services. To help prepare our hearts to worship him, starting next Sunday, the Everyday Gospel Christmas Devotional by Paul David Tripp will be available for your family. This advent devotional includes twenty-five readings designed to help you connect Scripture’s transforming power to your daily life. May each day’s reading bring you and your family closer to Jesus as you look forward to Christmas Day. Donations for the book will be accepted to support the Fuel Youth Group’s Winter Retreat.

This Sunday at CrossView Church

Life often brings moments when everything seems to fall apart. In those times, we wrestle with difficult questions: Where is God when things crumble around us? Can hope exist alongside judgment?

This Sunday, we'll explore these themes as Pastor James Wychers walks us through 2 Chronicles 36:11-21—a passage that recounts the fall of Jerusalem. It's a story of consequences and exile, but also one that points toward restoration.

CHILI  COOK-OFF  UPDATE

What a delicious Sunday we had! There was a great turnout and so much fun was had by all at the 2025 CVC Chili Cook-Off last Sunday!  After sampling 15 amazing chili entries, our taste buds have spoken, and we're thrilled to announce our Chili Cook-off winners.

Monday Evening Ladies Bible Study

We meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. utilizing the book Luke in the Land - Bible Study for Women with Video Access: Walking with Jesus in His First-Century World by Kristi Mclelland. Join us for enriching times of fellowship, prayer, and biblical teaching designed specifically for women seeking to deepen their faith journey. Cost of book is $20.00. Scholarships are available. Tuesday Morning Ladies Bible Study 

We gather every Tuesday from 9:30-11:30am at CVC. This year we'll explore the books of Esther, Ezra, and Nehemiah, studying them verse by verse to deepen our understanding of God. Our hope is that through this study, we'll grow in wisdom that helps us live lives that honor the Lord, please Him in all we do, and bear good fruit. Each week offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with other women as we learn and share together in fellowship. Chili Cook-Off Contest

CALLING ALL CHILI CHEFS!    
Sunday, November 2 

The CVC Café is hosting a Chili Cook Off Contest immediately following the worship service in the gym. Come for some friendly competition and see who gets bragging rights for the best chili!

Sample a variety of delicious recipes and vote for your favorite. Then dig in with a bowl of your favorite chili while we wait for the winner to be announced. Chili toppings, corn bread, dessert, and drinks will be provided.
