SPECIAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

Sunday, October 3 ~ after the worship service

At our annual meeting in April, we announced we would be looking for ways to use the surplus that God granted us over the past year to help others and that we might consider those who have been affected by the COVID pandemic. We also said we would schedule a special congregational meeting when we were ready to make a motion. We’re excited to say that, with the help of the Mission’s Committee, we have identified two areas of need and are ready to have the meeting.

In Zambia, Africa, they do not have the resources to help their population like the U.S. has been able to do. Since businesses are suffering, people’s pay has been decreasing and the inflation rate has increased. Unfortunately, when finances are tight, the first item families cut out of their budget is education. Many children are pulled out of school so that the family can continue to pay for food and rent. Our missionaries in Zambia have a scholarship fund and with the help of local partners, assess the situation of the children and provide payment directly to the schools for those who need it the most so the parents can continue to put food on the table and pay for their most basic needs. We will make a motion to give a total of $5,000 to be distributed to this scholarship fund.

In Cuba, there has been economic collapse and extreme shortages for food, propane, medicines, etc. A pastor writes, “Many times what we have for supper is just bread and sugar water. But God has been wonderful and good in a great way as we have never gone to bed without eating something.... When we take care of His vineyard, He takes care of us.”

Our missionaries are able to provide a safe way for funds to arrive to the hands of four Cuban pastors that they support. We will make a motion to give a total of $3,360 to be distributed to these pastors.
