CVC IN THE TIME OF CORONAVIRUS
During this uncertain season, we will keep you abreast of updates right here. We enourage you to continue in your daily Bible Reading and we will regularly add videos from Pastor Mike and Pastor James. You may find the sermon reflection videos on The Pastors' Blog.
More than anything, we want you and your families to be safe. God is in control. Let's continue to fellowship and support each other while taking care of ourselves.
If you have needs, please call the church office or contact a pastor or elder.
MAY SCRIPTURE MEMORY VERSE
“God is not a man that he should lie, or a son of man that he should repent.”
SUNDAY – May 24
Until we are able to have worship services together again at CVC, Pastor James Wychers will be videotaping sermons for us to view each Sunday on the CVC website. This Sunday's sermon will be: "Hate to Death or Love to Life"– 1 John 3:11-18.
In this sermon video Pastor James will speak about what it means to love like a follower of Christ. In a world filled with hate, the love of Christ and his call to love sacrificially is unique, difficult, and a powerful mark that bears living witness to the gospel of Jesus. This call to love will challenge every follower of Jesus!
Also, be sure to visit the CVC website during the week to view additional three to five minute videos related to Sunday’s sermon. Click on “The Pastors’ Blog” graphic in the middle of the main page of the CVC website www.crossviewonline.org. On the next page click “Keep Reading” on the blog you want to see, then you will be able to click on the video to view.
UPDATE FROM THE PULPIT COMMITTEE
Thank you, CrossView Family, for your continued prayer and support of the Pulpit Committee. We are not letting this time of separation slow us down! We have finalized a questionnaire and a position description with the help of the Elder Board for our top candidates. Earlier this week we finalized and reached out to those top candidates by phone and sent them our documents. We thought it would helpful for you to know that Pastor James is one of those candidates. We also continue to receive more emails and resumes almost daily from pastors interested in applying to CrossView. The team is doing a great job processing all those God sends our way. CrossView is certainly blessed to have such a great team serving us. God is certainly working through this process and in our church! While we celebrate great progress, we still have a good amount of work ahead with interviews, reference checks and the like. So, we ask you to continue with your great prayer support. We will do our best to keep you posted as we pursue God’s man for our new Sr. pastor.
UPDATE FROM THE CVC ELDERS
Timing for a return to normal church operation is still uncertain. We’d tentatively like to schedule Sunday, June 28th for the Annual Business Meeting, to vote for a budget and for Elder nominees. Although we’d strongly like to meet in person, if we are unable to meet in June, we will plan to become more creative regarding alternate methods of meeting. Please continue to pray for God’s provision during this time while we are apart and for growth and encouragement for our staff and our church family. God’s work in the world and in our community is not limited by a pandemic. We look forward to the time when we can see all of you again and worship our God together.
UNITED IN PRAYER ~ EFCA VIRTUAL GATHERING
Wednesday, June 10 ~ 7:00 p.m.
President Kompelien and members of the EFCA Board of Directors invite everyone in the EFCA to a 30-minute live-streaming event via Facebook Live, Vimeo and YouTube. Together we will follow the Lord’s Prayer to prayerfully lift up our leaders, churches, communities and movement to the Lord in this unique time of ministry. A separate email was sent out today (Thursday, May 21) from the church office to CVC family detailing this EFCA-wide event.
During the suspension of church services, there are a number of ways to give your offerings to CVC: 1) Pay online by visiting the CVC website at www.crossviewonline.org and clicking the “Give” button at the top of the main page; 2) Mail your check to the church office at 750 Highview Drive., Antioch, IL 60002; 3) Drop off your offering at the church on Tuesdays between 1-4 p.m. The church office will be open and a drop box will be inside the front doors for your convenience.
A Superior Way to Provide Your Offerings to CVC during the Coronavirus Pandemic
A growing number of members are using automated withdrawal from their bank to make their offerings to CrossView Church. If you would like the convenience of having the CVC Financial Secretary set up the automated withdrawal system on a regular basis, contact the church office to receive the necessary information and forms. Although PayPal is a convenient way to make your donations to CVC, be aware that PayPal charges CVC 3-4% of each transaction. Thus, using automated withdrawal is not only easy, but makes more of your offering available to direct ministry in Antioch.
