Sermon: “The Sufficient Power of the Gospel” – Colossians 1:3-8
While Pastor David is on sabbatical, Guest Speaker Pastor James Wychers will bring us a series of messages from the book of Colossians. In this series, “Christ: Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else”, we will see that Colossians is a call back to the fundamentals of the faith. This Sunday we will look at the genuine nature of the faith of the Colossians and the genuine power of the gospel that was bearing fruit in the whole world. It changed the Colossians and the gospel of Jesus is sufficiently powerful to literally change the world – including every one of us.

The Bread of Life Share Center and the Friday Night Groceries Giveaway NEED plastic grocery bags (Piggly Wiggly, Jewel, Walmart, anywhere else). OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOXES
You can have a role in reaching millions of children with God’s love by supporting this project of Samaritan’s Purse. By packing a shoebox full of simple gifts and sending it off with prayer, you can be part of transforming entire families and communities around the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Stop by the Operation Christmas Child table in the foyer beginning next Sunday for more information and start gathering items to pack in your shoebox(es). For ideas on what to pack in a shoebox, go to https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/ad-page/.
TRUNK OR TREAT at CVC
Wednesday, Oct. 31 ~ 4:00-7:00pm
Trunk or Treat is a fun and safe way to provide families an alternative to trick or treating door to door. At Trunk or Treat costumed children will walk through our parking lot, stopping at each car and receive candy. You may decorate your car and dress up if you choose to. (You can still participate if you choose not to dress up or decorate.) Every car is responsible for their own candy to hand out. Come and participate when you can after work. There will also be a food truck which everyone is encouraged to eat at. For more information contact Steve or Eileen Clark (firstname.lastname@example.org). They will have a signup sheet and register your car.
A TASTE OF CROSSVIEW
We are planning to create a Cookbook in celebration of CrossView’s 60th anniversary next year. Stay tuned for more information, and please start contemplating any recipes and associated memories that you would like to include.
The mission of the Meals Ministry is to provide complete meals for those who attend CrossView Church after surgeries, illnesses, accidents, new births, or family losses. CVC families prepare and deliver hot meals to the family in need at no cost to the church. The goal is to meet the family's needs for meals while connecting them with Christians from our church during their time of transition or crisis. If you are in need or if you know someone that is, or if you can occasionally make a meal for someone in our church family, please contact the church office.
CROSSVIEW CHURCH E-PRAYER CHAIN
The CVC E-Prayer Chain is a ministry that serves others through the power of prayer. Prayer requests that come into the Church Office are, upon approval, released to a group of faithful servants via e-mail. This group of individuals is committed to praying for the requests that come in on a daily basis. These requests range from health concerns, relationships, spiritual issues, financial concerns, etc. for CVC attenders and families, and their broader network (neighbors, co-workers, relatives, etc.) If you would like to serve as an intercessor for your brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus by having your name and email address added to our E-Prayer Chain, please contact the Church Office by phone (847-395-4117) or email at email@example.com.
BAPTISM AND MEMBERSHIP
The 2nd Sunday of each month has been designated as ‘Baptism Sunday.’ If you have questions or are considering taking this next important step in your faith, please call the church office to make an appointment to meet with Pastor David or indicate your interest to be baptized on a Welcome Card and place in the offering plate.
If you have been considering becoming a member of CrossView Church, please contact the church office for an application which explains the process for becoming a member or you may contact Pastor David or an Elder with any questions.
