The Harvest is Plentiful but the Workers are Few
This Sunday, Pastor David continues in his sermon series, “The Gospel of Matthew.” His message is ‘The Harvest is Plentiful but the Workers are Few” (Matthew 9:35-38).
JUST AROUND THE CORNER: REFORMATION SUNDAY
The 500 year anniversary of the Reformation is October 31. Here are several ways you can learn more about the Reformation and celebrate at CVC:
- Pastor David’s book recommendation for October is The Reformation - What You Need To Know and Why. This informative book is only 80 pages long and is a fast-paced storyline of the whole Reformation period. To preorder a copy you may sign up in the foyer this Sunday or call the church office. Cost is $5.
- CVC will be celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation with a German-themed potluck luncheon immediately following the worship service on Sunday, Oct. 29. Please sign up at the table in the foyer and indicate what type of food you will be providing. German recipes will be available for anyone who may need ideas of what to bring.
- Join with Pastor David on Reformation Day, Oct. 31, when the Brown Bag Book Club will begin a new book entitled, Redemption Accomplished and Applied, by John Murray. This book explains the two sides of redemption—its accomplishment through Christ’s atonement and its application to the lives of believers. In this theological classic Murray first explores the necessity, nature, perfection, and extent of the atonement. He then goes on to expound the biblical teaching about calling, regeneration, faith and repentance, justification, adoption, sanctification, perseverance, union with Christ, and glorification. Cost of book is $10. They meet on Tuesdays ~ 11:15am-1:00pm.
